finally meet my friend brian's girlfriend on the trip to the mojave. brian moved to LA to be with stacie and kept his job for kranky records, having the luxury of working from his new studio that he shares with her. she's an interior decorative painter and bubbling over with talent and spirit. stacie and i bonded instantly. two girls with no regard for rules unless someone tells us to mind them, and even then it's a task to pay attention. two girls with pockets full of excuses to feign unawareness when someone is telling us to mind those rules because playing dumb and acting like you didn't know any better (if you get caught) gets you the best pictures.

so we took a sunset hike up the rock pile behind our vacation house.
