last vacation day before i start the new job. had to take my car into the repair shop from which i picked it up the week before. "loose light bulb" in the new headlight. since i was at 57th and Western i figured i'd hit southside thrift spots.
soundtrack*:
* when i hear this song i have to repeat it for something like 30 minutes. i have visions of being in a car full of people stopping in the middle of the expressway for a chinese fire drill/mosh about the car combo. all i can say is that the breakdown in that song is about the sickest fucking thing i can think of.
pretty decent haul. some tried and true spots failed me, but i'm sure they'll come through soon enough. last week i was set on finding one of these later 60s floral vinyl travel bags and lookie what was hiding under a rack...
passing it onto the
etsy shop.
i'm sure
i'll eventually find one for myself.
also found these which have no size tag so i have to bother my friends to try them on and tell me what they fit like. i have a similar pair that are way way small in the shop already. they had a front page feature (my first!) and shot my page views/
favorited-
ness through the roof.
had plans to see a movie that afternoon with
jessica t. since we both have Century gift cards but she's seen everything that's playing! so i went way north, had dinner at Lakeside, which i don't think is really that good and could stand to try harder. wandered a bit and found cute pictures of my spirit animal:
and old hand cut
silhouette portrait (might start collecting these?):
and picked up some books. shouldn't every household have a copy of the communist manifesto? mostly bought it because i love going through to see what previous readers underlined or made notes about in the margins.
i'll have about 50 pages with "well, ideally" scribbled out when
i'm done with this. also bought an old edition of "that quote book".
what to do when one of your favorite philosophers says things like "i call Christianity the one great curse, the one enormous and innermost perversion, the one great instinct of revenge, for which no means are too venomous, too underhand, too underground and too petty, -i call it the one immortal blemish of mankind" and then goes on to say "god created woman. and boredom did indeed cease from that moment- but many other things ceased as well! woman was god's second mistake"?
ended the night with j'suz at simon's. my closest friends have an overwhelming power to strike me down with reason and calm. she's no exception.
