updates and such, for the past month...and maybe more.

1. in case you were wondering what my sister is built like...

2. saw the Vaselines and their humor and wit was just as sharp as you'd hope. they played EVERYTHING.

3. work offers yoga twice a week for free and it kicks my ass and did i mention it's free? been googling "yoga queefs" BECAUSE THAT WAS EMBARRASSING!

4. hurst and i went to middle Indiana to see Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction, conveniently billed as the NINJA tour by a marketing turd trust. i haven't been around that many standard midwesterners in a long time. people REALLY like to drink and drive AND FUCKING PAAAAAARTY. there was no downplaying of Mr. Reznors speculated homosexuality here. twinkle fingers like mad. he was getting showtunesy whenever he could find a place to inject it. he's so ripped and militant and structured looking. loved it! Jane's payed homage to past tours. opened with "Three Days" and i, surprisingly, got super choked up. i think Mark wasn't sure what to do with me at that point. the emo haze lifted not long after, seeing how bored and scripted it all seemed. 10 minutes in, Navaro set his eyes on a chick that i swore was wearing a bodysuit, pointed and mouthed "one hour". that was probably my favorite moment. it was almost too much to bare when Perry starting going on about plastic people during "Ted, Just Admit It...". i'm thinking, "how much vagina have you dudes mined that has been attached to fake breasts?" all in all, they sounded perfect but that ship has definitely passed.

5. been sick for a week and have a sinus infection in my tooth. the pain!

6. bought a lot of records lately between trips to texas and STL. scored an insane amount of mid 80s british indie in st louis. i have no idea where Principia University or Elsah, Il is but they apparently had a killer radio station back then and someone unloaded the station's collection at Vintage Vinyl. Loop, House of Love Creation s/t and some singles, the Sun and the Moon, Close Lobsters (cannot stop listening...like Westerberg meets the Lemon Drops), Dif Juz...Texas gave me a Frip and Eno record, the Rudimentary Peni ep's record, Bad Seeds, and a bunch more. also a cd discography of 39 Clocks, more on that at some point.

7. i've been fixated on this video of GP-O. in fact, moved to tears at a some points.

internal revolution is so important and these sentiments of change, momentum, (r)evolution, movement and progress are central to my brain space these days, though i'm not looking to explore human/space experiments or animal/human hybridization for the sake of those things!

long night

emergency room in austin, texas. approximately 3am. served a tomahawked leg to the top of my head (i even had my arms up and his leg just broke right through). never been hit like that before and i've been kicked in the head a lot. right arm went numb for 5 minutes, temperature of my face went down about 10 degrees and i thought i was gonna barf. i swore i heard my skull split. this was, appropriately, during "annihilate" from annihilation time the FIRST time i saw them play that weekend. almost went to the ER after it happened, got in the car and everything, but i just breathed it off and watched to Cro-Mags as calmly as i could watch the Cro-Mags. is it childish/irresponsible/?? that i'd rather watch the Cro-Mags than get my head checked. went to the ER shortly after that, and of course i was fine. thanks health insurance! never found time to get my prescription filled for pain pills. i hope there isn't some sort of limitation or expiration on those.

last (?) Annihilation Time show

Annihilation Time played what was touted as their last show on Sunday of Chaos en Tejas, in a pizza parlor no less with the almighty Midnight. of course people were yelling "turn up the ovens!!!" when it was already at least 120. ceiling fan blades were full force punched off mid rotation, giant carnival stuffed animals were disemboweled (there were Styrofoam pellets EVERYWHERE, even in my beer!), and people stood outside the windows of the parlor like they were watching in on zoo animals. i've followed this band since day one and who knew that first 7" that i poured sick love over would be improved upon this much? who knew they come out and play a fairly tame first Chicago show at a suburban sportsplex and then i'd end up seeing them off in all the glorified madness they deserve. what i did know (or at least guessed) is that playing sxsw showcases would be a bore for them and they'd decide to call it quits knowing that that's not how they want to function, amongst other things i'm sure.

i started getting a weird vibe when the show started that Jimmy and my first love, first everything, blah blah blah look similar from the profile, especially with a hat turned back.

then i got home, examined this old photo and realized that one is Puerto Rican, one is Native American and neither really look alike. this is Chris, on a family vacation in the summer of 91, hating ever minute of it. he's unfortunatly not wearing a "Red Fox Gun Club" hat either.

this is someone being surfed OUT THE FRONT DOOR.

slaughtered!

i can say i've never meet a swordsmith before

but i have now!

me and Baron from Amebix (photo from mattus' phone):

he also makes jewelry and i'm going to have him make me a ring, after he makes me a sword that will probably break my bitty wrists when i try to wield it proper.

i think it's safe to say that this man is living the fucking dream. his dream, at least. kudos!
