next up: warm weather appropriate hoodies

i bought a Free People hoodie (the only brand loyalty i've ever known, running deep since high school), got it home and realized i could make something similar that i liked even more. story of my life. it's backless with a slightly over-sized hood, you know, dreamy. i'm bad with "before" documenting, but i started with an old royal blue zip up hooded sweatshirt and that beloved pixelated floral fabric and this is what came out of the oven....

making a sailor-inspired one for my sister so i'll post close-ups of that one. not doing it here because i'm sick, exhausted and full on a fried cashew butter, fig jam and swanky cheese sammmmich (noted in my 50 pound eyelids and 'no energy' expressions). thinking this might be my next big production project? recycled sweatshirts, recycled fabric for the hoods, rad design in time for warm weather. me likes.

updates

finally got around to updating my handmade Etsy shop. i'm starting a blog to shuffle all Etsy, vintage, handmade, etc. type posts onto. i know that stuff is a bit of a snoozer. in the meantime, here are some examples of what i was making this winter. sub-example of a fascination with headless dames?

part one: hooked. part two: death

printing on burlap: fun and addicting. this is turning into a pillow. something about the sort of primitive weave on textiles like this mixed with primitive, clean, old world woodcuts makes my heart flutter. i also eat with my hands and take baths from a bucket of rain water. primitive savage to the bone.

Metal Haven is closing. In truth i haven't stepped foot in there in almost a year because i knew i'd just walk out deeper in credit card debt by about 100 bucks (which is really the cost of about 3 reissue lp's plus tax). guess i'm part of the problem. onward...sewing (my shitty class project. a bath robe, really?) and memorializing:
