NF: best news i've heard in a long time...dear friend told me tonight that i'm an entirely different person than i was when i was younger (19-23). trying to right my young wrongs is finally paying off!
FB: "Closed the book. Got so tired of picking out the relevant chapters and reading and rereading until I lost my place and said, "what’s done is done" and shelved it indefinitely. Move on. Prove to yourself that you are the lover you think you are. Romance hasn’t been lost. It was locked away and, understandably so, it’s a little scared of the light." i write some really stupid things that make sense when my stupid little brain revisits them, making me not feel stupid anymore.

hot finds: austin, tx edition.
i spent 5 glorious days in austin, texas recently; splitting time between the Chaos en Tejas fest and avoiding punks at all costs milling around the city. so much to post that i have to break it down day by day, which i'll get to later this week. in the meantime.....
found in a public garden that was a secret garden in some parts that also sold plants and random antiques and casual memorials to punk/art legends. talk about heart swells.

grandma's ghost passing through my kitchen.
i'm nostalgia's bitch. i love old-timey things and customs and i turn my nose at much of our modern world. i can't help it, it's in my blood. my parent's didn't buy a piece of non-antique furniture until i was a late teen and i don't even think my childhood bed was made in the 20th century. so i get all heavy-hearted when i pull out the glassware i adopted when my grandma Evelyn passed on. she was a lady of rich, artery clogging tastes (read: german as all get out) and took every opportunity to share her dishes with family or friends, but making sure to mark her wares with some masking tape and her textbook cursive signature so no one would make off with her dishes. that shit didn't grown on trees like it does for us spoiled, wasteful and overindulgent assholes in 2008 so you had to keep a watchful eye to not loose it.
-one container of butternut squash chunks (my laziness thanks you trader joes!).
-two red bell peppers, seeded and cut into one inch strips.
-one red onion chopped into small chunks.
-mix in a bowl with 1-2 tbs olive oil and 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp dried coriander, 1/2 tsp chili powder and a dash of sea salt.
-roast on a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray for 45 minutes in an over pre-heated to 400 degrees.
-remove from the oven, stir in 2 cloves of garlic and reduce oven temp to 350.
-spray a 9x13 (ish) baking dish with cooking spray.
-spoon mixture into a tortilla (i've use both corn and flour, either tast great) and sprinkle with shredded cheese (i use soysation but real deal monterey jack is heavenly salty good on these).
-fold up the enchilada and place seam down in baking dish.
-cover with half a jar of salsa verde (yeah i'm not making tomatillo sauce when this shit costs 1.29 and does the job).
-sprinkle with more cheese, as desired.
-bake 15-20 minutes or until cheese is browned.
i always thought that the recipes in the little magazine that whole foods puts out on the info stations looked a lot like VT recipes. guess what? this recipe is in the current whole foods mag. actually, the whole feature section that this came from is in the whole foods mag, for free. get it.
remember the indians.
Indian Jewelry, my favorite Crash Worship worshiping uikuikuikuikuikuikuikuikuik -thanks Blue- dark lords came through this past Saturday and strobe fucked every one's eyeballs at the Hideout. played a couple new songs that ran par with the blessed old ones so i'm EXCITED to hear the new record. these photos are kinda cruddy, so i apologize. i have a lil video that i'll put up soon.
i love this man's presence sooo much and that he un-ironically wears actual indian jewelry.
first time i saw them was around a year ago. it was Memorial Day to be precise: played the Bottle with Entrace which was epic on it's/his own so this was like a multiple gasm event. T-tot had a BBQ in anticipation and celebration and it was quite possibly one of the most uplifting days of my life, like i was just removed from the everyday and the trappings of time and "life" for a short while. there was a time warp to '92 involving a Ned's Atomic Dustbin sing along and the enlightenment of my friends to the VERY DEEP love i have of that band. also a nearly religious experience involving Steely Dan. then a group walk to the bottle with micro champagne cans that are nothing short of adult capri-sun. then, like i said, gettin moved like a steamroller over a pine cone by the bands. coincidentally, at the Indian Jewelry show on saturday i was telling my lady PF that i found a pair of my underwear in the trunk of my car a few weeks ago and after i combed my memory for a minute, i realized that i put them in my trunk on that big deal memorial day because i was laughing so intensely (probably at her and the creation of "Geocities in Dust") that i pissed myself and put the soiled panties in my trunk before we hit the bottle, sans underwear. should probably get those dirty undies bronzed. l-i-v-i-n.
